Dear Carlson family and donors,
I would like to express my greatest, most sincere gratitude to you all for awarding me the scholarship on Wednesday, June 3-the Darril Carlson Memorial Scholarship will help me and my family tremendously in paying for my college education. Thank you.
I understand the emotional tie of this scholarship with your family, and I am incredibly grateful to be linked to Darril and your family in this way; I cannot imagine a group of people whom I would like to have this connection with more than with you. Your family and everyone who attended the golf tournament are unbelievably generous, and it is amazing that this level of generosity exists in today's world.
I am blown away by the enormity of this scholarship and by the greatest level of generosity I have ever experienced in my life. I am amazed that over one hundred donors gave their money not only to help pay for my education, but also to keep the memory of Darril alive. I know that Darril was respected and had many good friends who will share whatever they can, even in these economic times.
Upon reading that Darril made people he met feel better about who they were, I can agree entirely. Even though I never met Darril face-to-face, the scholarship in his memory has helped my and my family's financial situation hugely; I can see that Darril's natural kindness has spread through every donor at the tournament and to me as well-I have this positive perspective of the world that is completely new to me, and I have Darril, your family, and the donors to thank for that.
Thank you, donors, for contributing to this scholarship. Thank you, Carlson family, for creating and awarding me this scholarship. Your generosity is unmatched by anything I have ever seen, and I will never forget you. I know that there are good people in this world, and I know that I want you to stay in my life. I would be honored if I could help you in any way in the future.
You are all incredible people.
Thank you,
David Campbell
